Failure behavior

Authentication is revalidated against Stripe on each protected request. Calls fail closed when payment or product metadata is invalid, credit is empty, or OpenRouter omits actual cost. A missing cost never changes the stored balance.

Concurrency note

The beta ledger uses Stripe Checkout Session metadata. Run one request at a time per key. Multi-region or concurrent balance mutation requires an external atomic ledger before broader production use.
